A Tale One Faith
A Tale One Faith
I picked up a book recently simply because of its title. It read “The Heavenly Man - The remarkable true story of Chinese Christian Brother Yun”
I have always gone with books that tell the story of people who share my faith without the freedom to practice as I do. Probably because in my heart, I’m the picture of a rural missionary who has had to exchange uncharted places for the market place.
The story of brother Yun reminded me of a simple faith that is based on salvation and the promise of a life looking into the eyes of the saviour. They believed knowing that the next moment could be the last breathe of freedom outside of prison. Thiers was a faith based on peace with God and a clear conscience with man. They lived their faith despite the hurt it brought to their families. Brother Yun could not be there for his wife most their early married life; his son was born while he was in prison. Yet in all this he had joy in the God he believed.
His story further reminded me to make certain that what I am busy in is my calling. I ask myself what would be my trophies when I see God face-to-face. Would it be a demonstration of a faith lived in acquiring material assets because I could not carry my cross?
I may not be imprisoned for my faith but I’m going to live life like I have nothing yet grateful using everything I have for His Name and Renown. I will leverage all I have for the unending memory of God’s glory and eternal fame. That’s something worth living for
