The Reborn Identity
The Reborn Identity
I got one of those forwarded mails and for some reason, it piqued me. The message in it, paraphrased, went like this – I am a sinner saved by grace, it’s still in my nature to sin.
I agree we were sinners – some of us were the scum of the earth but in Christ, old things have gone. We are now SAINTS.
We have a new nature in us – the nature of God.
When we sin, it is because we have made a choice not to live by the new nature in us.
We reduce the sacrifice of Christ when we define who we are by what we were. Paul, when rebuking the churches found in sin, did not call them sinners, whether saved by grace or not. He would call them by their new identity – saints, holy people, called out ones, ... stop sinning.
Christ in His message to the churches gave them one identity – they belonged to Him. The falling churches were not sinners saved by Grace. They were Holy people set apart for Him.
This is our Reborn Identity.
