The God Series Continued – The Self-Sufficient God

The God Series Continued – The Self-Sufficient God
God sustains Himself by Himself. He needs nothing outside of Himself to sustain His Godship.
Every act of service to Him is not for His benefit but for the benefit of the servant.
Even our worship of Him. Our worship does not increase or decrease Him, rather, it increases us.
We become who we worship. The nature of worshipped becomes the nature of the worshipper. As worshippers set their minds on all the attributes of their God, they begin to wear these attributes.
Every good we do is for our own good.
God needs no one to do His work. It is an act of Grace that He gives us the joy of partnering with Him. Even in this, it is He who works through us.
God does all things by Himself. He exists for Himself and by Himself.
He would not be God if He does not sustain Himself.

The God Series Continued – The God of Who He is

The God Series Continued – The God of Who He is
I came across a song I wrote some years back. The simple words washed over me again:
You are who You are
Defined not by what I have seen
Defined not by what I have experienced
You are who You are
All by Yourself
You are the measure of who You are

The “self-existency” of God means that God exists outside of us and will remain so forever. He will remain God even if we choose not to worship Him.
The worship of Him does not increase or decrease Him; it works for our benefit.
God’s sun will continue to shine even if all men were blind to it. Our sight allows us to take in the light it shines. But our sight or lack of it does not change the sun.
Through faith, we see faint images of all He is. But he is bigger than our imagination can take in.
God is a big as He is.
He defines Himself. He is all He is by Himself

The God Series

The God Series
I’ve always wanted to capture what I know about God in words. I try to do this also in songs. It seems the things I know teach me more because I’ve not learnt to live fully by them.
God becomes an exciting adventure with every additional insight of Him.
Every revelation of God is an act of grace. God is all by Himself and does not need to share Himself to be complete. But through Grace, He reveals Himself.
To be caught in this, brings a sense of wonder at God is. He is not all we say He is, He is more. This is because the human mind defines God in the context of imagination but God is completely out of imagination. He is beyond it.
The true nature of God is an expression of Grace by God.
What we know and will know of God is an act of Grace

The Truth as it is

The Truth as it is
I recently attended a Young People programme. The Pastor of the Church is a man I have always admired for years. The programme did not run like you normally expect.
The typical young people’s groove was present but there was something still solemn in the atmosphere.
The Pastor took us a journey of his life keeping us on the intricate details of the bad. It was his way of preparing us for what was coming. He asked the unusual questions.
We were challenged to tell the truth as it is. He asked us to tell the truth about who we were.
The humbling moment was when he asked all the virgins (male & female) to stand up. We were humbled because we did not say who we were with pride but with a sense of wonder in God.
Another aspect was that at each point, those who sat cheered those who stood.
These moments reminded me of what it means to be the family of God. We have the confidence to say who we are; knowing we are accepted because of what God has done. I long for more gatherings like this.
It did not matter that we were around those we could be ashamed to say what we were, we have the audience of the forever Father.
He is ever there.
One Father over us all.
